Edit Feeding Time

The 1970s became notorious as a time of industrial strife and confrontation, with the introduction of the three-day week, and strikes commonplace. In February 1970, teachers were out on strike, and the action hit these pupils at Maryhill School. But the youngsters still had to be fed, and our picture today shows the dinner ladies dishing up to kids who look quite happy to miss a few lessons.

As my mum was working in the munitions we received our breakfast and dinner and tea at Springbank Primary and it was great to as we kids really needed it then. The dinner ladies knew us all by name and we could not get away with much at all. Thanks for the memories.
