The video has reminded me of how terrible it is that the cemetery is left in such a state and how there is little respect for the people who are buried there.

I have just viewed the video. I was aware of this as I pass the site at least each Sunday. Surely something could be done and I agree with Roz it is a total disgrace. Was there not some info some time ago about someone buying the site for - what else - housing - but the graves could not be disturbed. There must a way round this. What have our local Politicians done about this? Could historic Scotland not become involved, surely there must be some organisation who could give advice. Has anyone looked into this? obviously no or some kind of progress would have been made. I have perhaps one suggestion which at this stage I do not want to put to print.

I have only just viewed this video which doesn't really show the true dereliction of the Old Maryhill Parish Church. I lived directly opposite the church in the 70s and it was a very busy place. As a result of correspondence with the Church of Scotland General Trustees, dept 121 George Street, Edinburgh I learned that the Church of Scotland sold the building to Inscape Scotland in 1979, but that the resonsibility of the graveyard fell to the local authority who have clearly ignored it. So for further action it seems the local authority is the starting point.

All it would take is few people to go in and cut away the brush and clean up the site.

In view of the condition of this site I would strongly advise people not to go into it. Due to previous use ground liable to subsidence.
